Requirements:	Woven Jelly Roll Rug Heather Selby Supply List & Preparation Instructions If you have questions about the preparation, email Heather Selby hdselby@gmail.com Pattern: • Woven Jelly Roll Rug by Pauline Rogers Materials • 2.2 yards of assorted fabric – 25 – 3” strips – please cut prior to class • Half a jelly roll pack or TOTAL of 1.5 fabric - You may use a purchased jelly roll, or you may cut your own 2 ½” strips from fabrics that you select. If you choose to cut your own strips, please cut them prior to class so that you have more time in class to sew. • ¾ yard fabric for backing – Cut to 22X42 • 2.2 yards of double-sided fusible batting – 25 – 3” strips – please cut prior to class • Thread – o I used MonoPoly thread for the woven part of my rug. If you have not worked with MonoPoly thread before it is best to choose an all-purpose thread. If you choose to use MonoPoly thread, I recommend that you purchase the pre-wound MonoPoly bobbins. o Jelly Roll portion of the rug - The thread does show, so select a color that looks good with your fabrics. You can choose a solid color or a variegated thread, or you may choose to match your thread to your fabric, so it blends in. • Bobkin –I recommend the smaller metal ones • Fork pins – If you do not have any, I will have some to borrow in class. • Glue stick • Walking Foot • ¼” sewing foot • Stitch in the Ditch foot • Topstitch needles - #80/12 • 1 ½ Weaver Sasher tool • Travel iron and ironing surface • Clover fabric tube maker tool • Ruler Other Supplies • Sewing machine that will sew a zigzag stitch at least 5.5 mm wide. The machine also needs to be able to stitch through multiple layers of fabric and batting. o Be sure that your sewing machine in good working order and that you know how to operate your machine. o Some students prefer to bring a lightweight machine to class. However, this is a project that requires a machine with enough power to stitch through many layers, and some lightweight machines may produce disappointing results. • Extension table for your machine if you have one. The larger the flat surface that you have around the machine, the easier it will be to make a flat rug. • Presser feet: Walking Foot is best or an edge stitching foot for stitching the tube, and an open toe embroidery foot for zig zagging the rug together • Topstitch needles 80/12: Bring extras • Travel iron and small pressing mat • Clover Fabric Tube Maker: Highly recommended. This helps to make consistent sized tubes. • Basic sewing supplies: scissors, long patchwork pins such as Flat Flowerhead Pins, seam ripper, The purple thing or a stiletto • Rotary cutter with a sharp blade, small cutting mat • Wonder Clips Prep for class: *** Cut your 3” fabric & batting strips. If you do not use a jelly roll, cut your 2 ½” strips X WOF.
